Sindh’s seven-member caretaker cabinet takes oath in Karachi

A seven-member cabinet of Sindh’s caretaker Chief Minister Fazalur Rahman took oath in a ceremony held in Karachi on Friday.
The oath was administered by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair.
Khair Muhammad Junejo, Jameel Yousuf, Dr Junaid Shah, Colonel (r) Dost Muhammad Chandio, Dr Sadia Rizvi, Simon John Daniel, and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah became part of the province’s caretaker government.
Members of the cabinet were decided after consultations between caretaker Chief Minister Fazlur Rehman and legal experts.
The oath-taking ceremony contradicted earlier reports that it won’t be taking place anytime soon due to Grand Democratic Alliance’s reservations against the cabinet members.
The GDA delegation, led by Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah, had conveyed their concerns over Ejaz Ahmed Khan, the principal secretary to the chief minister, who is reportedly facing NAB cases, and said his presence could damage the credibility of the CM Office.
The chief minister had assured the delegation that his cabinet would comprise impartial people.
“We just want to hold fair and free elections. We also want to facilitate you so that you can contest elections with no interference by anyone,” Rahman had told the visitors.
The outgoing Sindh government and opposition had named Rehman as the caretaker chief minister of the province on June 1.

DG Rangers Sindh Meets Traders, Gurantees to Address Security Concerns

Members of Karachi Chambers of Commerce & Industries  held a meeting with the Rangers Sindh Director-General (DG) Major General Muhammad Saeed. The delegation met with the DG Rangers and informed him about their security concerns after a hand grenade attack in Kahradar cloth market on January 18 and Suspicious Extortion Calls  Matters discussed in the meeting included the security situation and measures taken by Rangers to provide security. DG Rangers assured the traders that the paramilitary force would continue their efforts against criminals and extortionists. He said extortion is a menace and it will not be allowed to take roots in Karachi again. He also said that the Rangers have already been patrolling in the city markets for the protection of traders. The delegation appreciated the Rangers’ efforts and role for peace in the city.
