Resilient Karachiites brave scorching heat, security checks to welcome PSL

Thousands of spectators endured long queues and navigated stringent security checkpoints hours ahead of a high profile cricket match on Sunday in Karachi, the first time in nine years that it has hosted a game of such stature.
At least 8,000 security personnel that also included armed soldiers guarded the 27,000 capacity National Stadium where Peshawar Zalmi will take on Islamabad United in the third PSL final.
“It's (the PSL final) giving a message to the world that Pakistan is a peaceful country and Pakistan will play role in sports,” said 24-year-old spectator Hamza Yousuf Shah, who was waiting in one of several long queues to get into the stadium.
“Pakistan is full of cricket fans and it's a great thing that cricket is back in Pakistan, hopefully, it will be a success,” said 16-year-old cricket enthusiast Ria Martin.
Love of the game also brought 14-year-old Maaz Ahmed, who uses a wheelchair, to the ground.

  1. The PSL teams have missed a trick in not naming themselves based upon the cities they represent. Here's the names that would've been better:

Karachi Mariners Quetta Quakes Multan Saints Islamabad Capitals Peshawar Rifles Lahore Mughals

  2. All the other franchises to an extent have created their own identity and engaged with local communities to win over more fans.

  3. At the end of the day, the only matters is the result. If team is performing well, then any negative sense will die eventually.

MS Dhoni – an era on his own

MS Dhoni of India hits out during the third Royal London One-Day International between England and India at Headingley on July 17, 2018 in Leeds, England. PHOTO: GETTY He came, he saw, he conquered. These words are the very least one can associate with Mahendra Singh Dhoni  for his performance thus far in international cricket. By placing the ball behind the square through to the third man boundary for a single, he recently achieved the milestone of making  10,000 ODI runs . On July 14, 2018 at Lord’s, the home of cricket, he became only the 12 th  batsman in the history of ODI cricket to achieve this rare feat. MS Dhoni plays a shot during the second ODI against England at Lords in London on July 14, 2018. From his early days as a boy from a small town, the passage he passed through and the circumstances he overcame to get to this point, it all ...
